Professional Experience/ Qualifications |
- Must meet 19-A qualifications.
- Must submit and pass a DOT physical examination.
- Must have at least three years of driving experience.
- Employment is contingent upon completing a thorough background check, including employment history and a criminal record check.
- Pre-employment and continued random drug screening will be required.
- Must complete recertification requirements as needed.

Certifications |
A current valid driver's license, in accordance with the University's Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy is required.
Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (
CDL) Class C in good standing with P endorsement (required); having P and S endorsements is preferred. |

Physical Requirements |
Requires the ability to:
- Sit for extended periods.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry tools, objects, or equipment above shoulder level without assistance.
- Climb stairs.
- Reach above head and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, as well as standing for extended durations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds daily to fulfill work-related responsibilities.

Accountabilities |
- Drive and operate a shuttle, bus, or van to safely and courteously transport passengers around campus and throughout the Village of Hamilton.
- Operate vehicles while adhering to University policies and procedures.
- Conduct vehicle inspections as required by department policy and DOT regulations.
- Operate vehicle communication systems within the guidelines of University policies.
- Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding the operation of commercial vehicles.
- Clean and fuel shuttle, bus, or van as part of daily duties and as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain scheduled routes to establish time and mileage. Immediately notify the supervisor of changes/delays.
- Record and report incidents/problems through appropriate procedures established by the department, including accidents and mechanical concerns.
- Provide information to students, faculty, and staff members regarding the shuttle service program.
- Attend all required University, federal, and state regulatory in-service trainings and meetings.
- Maintain CDL and all applicable certifications and endorsements (including regular physicals, recertification training, and examinations).
- May occasionally take on dual roles, which include driving the bus/shuttle and handling dispatch duties, such as answering phones and coordinating schedules, as needed to support departmental requirements.
- Additional opportunities may include outings and on-demand trips outside of shuttle hours, providing transportation to and from (including but not limited to) the Utica and Syracuse bus and train stations, as well as Syracuse airport.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
