Job Description

Dewberry is hiring a Senior Training Manager to join our Training and Development Team. Our team delivers training solutions that align with Dewberry's strategic business goals to drive organizational performance. This includes robust programs that build skills in leadership development, interpersonal communication, project management, and client management. We also manage the administration of courses for compliance with corporate policies and health, safety, and environment requirements to support risk management.

The Senior Training Manager will be an experienced learning and development professional who can perform a variety of training management responsibilities, serving as learning consultant to our operational business units, solutions architect, product owner, content designer, content developer, and facilitator as needed. The person in this role will be primarily focused on supporting programs for leadership development and interpersonal communication and will be responsible for leading our strategy and processes for LMS administration. The Senior Training Manager will also play a role across our entire portfolio to help us leverage learning technologies, optimize our processes, and advance our approach to measuring training impact on the business. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, enthusiastic collaborator, and exceptional communicator who understands all training modalities. Responsibilities

    Consult with business stakeholders to elicit, diagnose, and translate business needs into learning solutions that align with business goals
  • Design, develop, and deliver training in the modality determined to best meet learners' needs
  • Develop a consistent learning reinforcement approach for our programs
  • Play a key role in developing a measurement strategy to share training impact on the business
  • Identify, select, and manage external training providers as needed to execute learning solutions
  • Serve as product owner of our LMS to maximize our use of this tool, collaborate with the system vendor and IT department to address issues as they arise, and define related roles and responsibilities
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to provide learning and development dashboards and other organizational analytics.
  • Lead other training initiatives as needed to optimize our processes
  • Facilitate in the classroom periodically, both face-to-face and virtual


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 15+ years of experience in learning and development, including 10+ years of instructional design and classroom facilitation experience
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional learner experience for our employees
  • Expertise with data reporting and training measurement and ability to apply the Kirkpatrick learning and evaluation method
  • Aptitude and experience managing cross-functional projects in a matrixed structur
  • Exceptional consultation and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strategic thinker who can also dive into details when needed
  • Strong business acumen
  • Natural galvanizer who enjoys promoting learning opportunities
  • Strong collaborator who is effective at building internal networks and leading with influence
  • Comfortable interacting with executives, ability to craft and present a business case in a concise, compelling manner
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Direct experience working with an LMS to manage course enrollment and reporting
  • Strong understanding of how to leverage learning technologies to meet goals
  • Experience working with Articulate Storyline or other content development tools
  • Strong familiarity with SharePoint and Power BI
  • Certification as a DiSC facilitator or similar is a plus
  • Must be able to work in our Fairfax, VA office on a hybrid basis
