Overview

This position will prepare quarterly financial packages, statutory reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, analyses, journal entries, compliance filings, and work on projects. This position will also work with data cubes and accounting hubs and prepare ad hoc financial analyses. The Accountant III will collaborate with other departments within the finance organization, including the underwriting, claims, actuarial, reinsurance, treasury, and compliance departments.



Responsibilities

    Create specific Statutory annual and quarterly statement schedules, including gathering information from data suppliers and consolidating responses, in accordance with Statutory accounting principles
  • Prepare technical balance sheet reconciliations for the team to review; investigate and resolve differences
  • Create recurring journal entries based on standard monthly support, as well as be a point-person for any ad-hoc entries
  • Provide summary and analysis for intercompany balances related to the AmTrust group
  • Generate ledger data requests, including proper formatting for end user
  • Produce support for statement disclosures and complex state filing schedules as needed
  • Ability to address multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring flexibility to meet deadlines
  • Liaison with other corporate areas (Controllers, GAAP Reporting, Management Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Investments, FP&A)
  • Assist with gathering support and analysis in conjunction with requests from internal and external auditors
  • Work closely with team members to support monthly and quarterly close processes
  • Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement and implement process efficiencies when applicable
  • Ad-hoc projects as requested


Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in financial reporting or accounting with insurance industry exposure preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and technology-based skills
  • Ability to work independently, analyzing and problem-solving financial data
  • Hybrid, 3 days in-office required, 2 days remote per week
  • Experience with Oracle ledger a plus (ERP, SmartView)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with all levels
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Overtime may be needed during peak periods
