BASIC FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Sr Manager Global Supply Chain Logistics, the Transportation Manager is an integral member of the Distribution Leadership Team and is responsible for the management of bulk distribution operations and staff in Petrolia, Pennsylvania, and for ensuring the safe, efficient and environmentally sound delivery to customers of high value bulk lubricants. In this position the Manager must achieve and sustain pacesetter performance in safety and quality and achieve and sustain performance in customer service and cost management.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of transportation staff with responsibility for ensuring the safe, efficient and environmentally sound receipt, storage and delivery to customers of high value bulk lubricants.
  • Responsible for the distribution of all outbound bulk products and packaged products to customers and outside warehouse facilities.
  • Create new materials in SAP for warehouses-material master Investigate lost and delayed shipments, file claims for damages and overcharges.
  • Maintain knowledge on national, regional and local rate adjustments, laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for Sonneborn outside warehouse facilities and transloading sites.
  • Track and manage carrier performance/outside warehouse - OTIF performance.
  • Review and approval of all freight invoices and prepare customer debit memos.
  • Monitor monthly expenses and budget. Prepare monthly inventory for outside warehouse.
  • Prepare monthly freight accruals.
  • Achieve and sustain performance in cost management through effective management of distribution expenses, and the development and implementation of cost reduction and course correction initiatives.
  • Lead in negotiations with hired carriers and other service providers.
  • Lead in providing staff training.
  • Liaise with Sales and customer service functions to resolve issues, develop opportunities and rate requests.
  • Provide investigative details for broken customer promises.
  • Participate in all management meetings.
  • Member of Integrated Business Planning team.
  • Investigate and provide details for customer complaints.
  • Participate in incident command as member of the Emergency Response Team.



Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in related distribution/logistics functions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVEL:

Post secondary education or relevant experience in related field.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with Sales personnel, associates and partners, as well as when interacting with other groups within HF Sinclair, and direct interaction with customers.
  • Ability to balance a challenging and often changing workload and maintain the focus of the Transportation Team on operational priorities.
  • Knowledge of alternative distribution and logistics methods.
  • Knowledge of NAFTA, customs and export documentation.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct leadership over 5 employees.
  • Works with no direct supervision.
  • Decision making is varied requiring the ability to balance customer needs with business objectives and conflicting priorities.
  • Decisions often are required to be made in a short time frame and can be based on incomplete information.
  • Direct responsibility for operational interface with outside carriers and railways.
  • Measure and monitor hired carriers and local railroad.
  • Implement processes and ensure compliance with transportation and environmental regulations.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • The Supervisor/Manager is on call at all times to respond to facility emergencies, customer requirements or loss of containment events.
  • Works with no direct supervision while having overall responsibility for the employees and the facilities.
  • Mental stress is related to meeting high customer demands while maintaining a safe working environment and following product quality procedures.
  • Work is in a refinery facility with the inherent risks of exposure to fire, explosion and toxic chemicals

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
