Job Overview

The Clinical Dietitian Senior a lead team member who provides comprehensive, safe, and ethical medical nutrition therapy to patients, families, and other clients in inpatient or outpatient settings. Leads quality improvement activities and advances the practice of dietetics through professional leadership activities.

Shift: This position is anticipated to work on an 'as needed' basis from 8-4pm Monday-Friday, including rotating weekend schedule.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree
EXPERIENCE - Six (6) years clinical nutrition
LICENSURES - Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) adhering to the Commission of Dietetic Registration guidelines.

Neonate - <30 days
Infancy - >30 days to 1yr
Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs
Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs
School age - >5yrs to 13yrs
Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs
Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assesses, plans, and delivers accurate medical nutrition therapy using established standards and evidence.
2. Incorporates principles of culture-competence and family-centered care.
3. Trains and observes RDs, interns, and students in their clinical practice. Provides feedback to enhance understanding and compliance.
4. Pursues professional growth and skill development.
5. Actively contributes to rounds, care conferences, and care coordination. Collaborates and promotes teamwork to achieve positive patient and client outcomes across the organization and/or within the department.
6. Proactively connects with Clinical Nutrition team members and other disciplines in the organization to identify Clinical Nutrition-related issues, potential solutions, and opportunities for quality and process improvement.
7. Ensures compliance with established regulatory standards and healthcare regulatory requirements by identifying and following policies and procedures for the nutritional care provided.
8. Accurately documents patient care and tracks time/activities for use with benchmarking, billing, and/or productivity in accordance with department standards.
9. Participates in advocacy, and leads policy and procedure review, quality improvement and/or research.
10. Collaborates as a member of committees, task forces, and/or workgroups.
11. Collaborates with CN department peers to gather and utilize data to develop processes to improve CN services/outcomes. Facilitate connections for other RDs and support their participation in professional associations, research projects, or publications.
12. Role model for standards of behavior, NFPE process, advanced interviewing, education, and/or counseling strategies. Mentor team members and support their professional growth, skill development, responsibility, accountability, quality improvement and research process.
13. Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.

Other Information

Guidelines: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. Guidelines are generally but not always clearly applicable, requiring the employee to exercise judgment in selecting the most pertinent guideline, interpret precedents, adapt standard practices to differing situations, and recommend alternative actions in situations without precedent.
Complexity: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.
Decision Making: Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed.
Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $63,317.59 to $94,976.38
Hourly Salary Range: $30.44 to $45.66
