SUMMARY

The Advanced Practitioner (AP) has dual responsibilities for managing acute care cases and conducting physical assessments according to standards set forth by RMI or a client of RMI in the case of pre-established standards in place. The position functions independently of the Clinical Governance system of RMI for field providers, and the AP should assume the role of independent practitioner in the States (USA) that permit the practice. Availability of consultation with emergency and occupational physician team is made available to all practitioners of RMI, however, there will not be an established "Practice Agreement" or "Supervisory Agreement" in place between the Medical Directors and the AP unless necessary.

Project Start: Late February-early March

Project Duration: 3 weeks

Schedule: Somewhat flexible but likely 5 days/week 8-12 hour day shifts

Scope: Performing approximately 100 physical exams in accordance with USCG standards

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These include, but are not limited to, the following:

General:



  • Functions as an independent medical practitioner. In accordance with established State Practice regulations, this position is considered an independent medical practitioner. Operate within the State established scope of practice regulations.
  • Maintains medical center facilities in accordance with RMI and prevailing standards.
  • Represents RMI in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintains current professional certifications, as designated for assigned projects.
  • Completes RMI and client reporting requirements as noted within each individual project and/or client.
  • Facilitates and assists in the coordination of patient referrals.


Occupational Health:



  • Perform physical assessments in accordance with RMI and/or client specific requirements. The components of the physical assessment may include but are not limited to vital signs, urinalysis, urine drug screening, physical examinations, health history review.
  • Issuing fitness for duty certifications based on RMI and client requirements as well as guidance set forth by RMI's Occupational Health (OH) Medical Director.
  • OH case management as needed to assist the client with return to work cases.
  • Consultation with the RMI OH Medical Director for complex cases that extend beyond the AP's knowledge and experience.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:



  • Unencumbered and Unrestricted Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at the level of Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the State of assignment with at least 3 years of independent practice experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in performing medical assessments (physicals) independently.
  • Experience preferred in performing medical assessments (physicals) of workers


CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:



  • State licensed Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)- Nurse Practitioner (NP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
