Summary of Job Duties:The Instructional Development Specialist I (IDS I) is part of the Institute for Digital Health and Innovation (IDHI) team and reports to the Assistant Director of Instructional Design, Education Program. This role involves creating educational content in both print and digital formats aligned with the Institute's programs, contracts, and grant requirements. Collaborating with senior team members, the IDS I co-leads the development of training courses and curricula for healthcare professionals, patients, and the public while gaining experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and establish learning objectives. Responsibilities include producing e-learning modules, webinars, in-person instruction, videos, and other educational resources. The IDS I utilizes adult learning principles and instructional design models such as ADDIE and SAM, ensuring best practices are applied across projects.
The IDS I works under the guidance of the Assistant Director and senior team members to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. They apply project management principles to their daily tasks and provide technical support for teleconferences. Additionally, they edit and manage video content for the Institute's Learn On Demand learning management system. This is a grant funded position. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional technology, education, or communicationsPLUS three (3 years) of experience in adult learning program development or instructional design.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop print and digital content for both large and small audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems such as Blackboard or similar applications.
  • Teaching web-based learning, faculty development, curriculum develop, health care education, case-based learning, and technical support experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Articulate Storyline and Articulate RISE, VYond (or other animation software), Word Press, other video editing and/or other video editing and/or graphic design experience.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, project management, graphic design, video or photography skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in instructional technology, education, communication PLUS three (3+) years of experience in adult learning program development or instructional design.
  • Licenses, certificates, or registration: Project management

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to conduct needs analyses, establish learning objectives, and create educational content for e-learning modules, webinars, in-person training, and videos.

  • Applying instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), adult learning principles, and accessibility standards (508 compliance) to deliver effective learning solutions.

  • Using software like Adobe Suite, Articulate Storyline/Rise, Vyond, and WordPress to create and edit content.

  • Managing video content in learning management systems, providing teleconference support, editing videos, and maintaining resources.

  • Assisting with marketing for conferences, teleconferences, and events through digital and print materials, photography, and video production.

  • Supporting training programs, maintaining project resource files, and offering graphic design support for web graphics and flyers.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.
