Summary of Job Duties:We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Clinical Research Financial Analyst to join our team at the Institute of Community Health Innovation. This role is essential for managing the accounting and analysis of key financials for all research-funded projects. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of our research initiatives.

The Clinical Research Financial Analyst will also be responsible for financial reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability. Key responsibilities include budgeting, managing contracts, billing and invoicing, and maintaining accounts. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with research teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes. Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail are essential for this position. This position is located in Northwest Arkansas. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business (Auditing, Finance, Accounting), or Healthcare Administration, Science, Nursing, and/or related fieldOR High School, GED, or formal education equivalent plus five (5) years of related experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • One (1) year of experience with billing, accounting, finance, budgeting, financial analysis, or a related field.
Level Qualifications:
  • Level I - 1 year of experience with billing, accounting, finance, budgeting, financial analysis, or related fields.
  • Level II - 3-5 years of experience with billing, accounting, finance, budgeting, financial analysis, or related field plus 1+ years of clinical research pre and/or post-contract funding and/or 1+ years of grant experience.
  • Level III (Senior) -Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience with billing, accounting, finance, budgeting, financial analysis, or related field plus 3+ years of clinical research pre and/or post-contract funding and/or 3+ years of grant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • In-depth understanding of federally funded grant awards and financial terms

Additional Information:

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management

  • Oversee the financial management of multiple federally funded research budgets throughout the project life cycle.
  • Consults with investigators and division directors to identify and ensure all terms of the contract or award are met and within UAMS compliance.
  • Thorough evaluation and monitoring of expenditures and tracking of revenue for assigned financial areas.
  • Frequent communication and coordination with grants accounting, OSPAN, and ORSP to ensure proper reporting of financials.
  • Reconciles study accounts at the closure of the projects for account closure. Works with agencies to resolve queries regarding invoices and/or payments due.
  • Monitors and manages invoices, contractor agreements, stipend payments, and execution and monitoring of subawards.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of research financial compliance based on the terms of the federal funder.

Coordination and Reporting

  • Extract and define relevant information, analyzes and interprets data to determine financial performance and/or to project a financial probability and make recommendations to influence decision making.
  • Prepares and delivers data, reports, and/or presentations to investigators, management, and/or leadership.
  • Plan and coordinate strategies to improve existing standard operating procedures related to finances.
  • Identify quality and performance improvement opportunities and collaborate with staff in the development of action plans to improve quality.
  • Works cross-functionally with all members of the research team and is responsible for maintaining information, processes, workflows, and tools that support the provision of financial services throughout the project's lifecycle.

Customer Service

  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
