VDC Manager

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented VDC Manager to join our dedicated team at our site located near Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

In this role, you will be assigned to the VDC team and will assist in obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating all information needed to construct the project in accordance with the contract documents through BIM models and to assure that the work meets all safety standards, is within schedule requirements, and is constructed to the highest level of quality possible while on site. This will be done by leveraging the BIM model and VDC tools and processes to benefit project workflows. You will also be required to manage direct reports, provide training, and help take lessons learned from projects and make changes to the VDC PM team's ways of working.

Additional Responsibilities

• Work on complex assignments independently, with attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues; involve others in decisions when needed.
• Run projects from the field without any assistance.
• Work on the following standard VDC documentation keeping it up to industry-leading standards:
  
  • VDC Execution Plan
  • VDC Coordination Schedule
  • VDC Sign-off Sheets
  • VDC Technology SOPs
  • VDC Project Scope and Budgets
  • Interactive Dashboards
• Review models from designers, subcontractors, and others to ensure proper coordination and installation in the field.
• Coordinate all BIM logistics (contracts, emails, communication, file sharing, etc)
• Coordinate and facilitate technology needed to create subcontractor big room meetings.
• Maintain federated model standards for many purposes (PE review models, field inspection models, punch list items, background models, field instruction models).
• Create standards for running meetings with the client on project-specific goals and plans.
• Run meetings with the client on IPS VDC-specific goals and plans.
• General review and documentation of trade models and coordination conflicts.
• Maintain interactive dashboards.
• Validate model-based project as-builts by trade subcontractors.
• Responsible for individual quality control and timely completion of assigned projects.
• Field CQV support, resolving field disputes through model verification.
• Verify with field subcontractors that they have the most current design and installation information.
• Provide modeling for change order verification, ROMs, scope holes in modeling efforts, design team support, etc.
• Assign and manage the creation of VDC PM-related SOPs.

• Bachelor/Associate/Technical degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 10+ years of experience in computer-assisted drafting, design, construction/field experience, and VDC/BIM.
• Has extensive knowledge of the following tools: Navisworks, Revit, BIM 360/ACC, AutoCAD/AutoCAD Plant 3D, and all other VDC technologies.
• Willingness to find new software and create and implement new and existing standards.
• Ability to teach VDC PM team members about the use of technology and coordination in the field.
• Has strong working knowledge of MEP systems and installations.
• Proficient in Clarity, Power BI, Fuzor, Takt planning, and other field technologies.
• Has field experience in design and construction.
• Has great organizational skills (juggling multiple jobs and files from multiple vendors) to be able to meet project deadlines.
• Customer service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with individuals (co-workers, clients, vendors) at all levels.
• Able to deal with and resolve conflicts between contractors, clients, and the design team.

Context and Environment and Safety

• Travel based on project location but willingness to travel 30-50% of the time to various job locations is necessary.
• This position is a safety-sensitive position.
• The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
• OSHA 30 is completed and updated every 5 years.
