Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a IT Senior Developer for our Lakeville, Minnesota corporate office.

Job Summary:

To develop, test and deploy applications according to established specification in order to meet the needs of the Company. Must be able to multi-task and adapt to an ever changing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and have a high technical aptitude.

This is a remote position that can be located in: AL, CA, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, maintain, and support the design of business applications to support the needs of the Company.
  • Participate in the System Development Life Cycle process documenting requirements, creating functional specifications, creating design documentation, implementation and support.
  • Develop, maintain and update systems and procedures to protect data integrity and application security.
  • Provide on-going support and maintenance of IBM i application, programs and databases.
  • Provide after hours support as needed to support issues with existing systems and installation of system modifications.
  • Evaluate, identify and recommend improvements in IT operations and services as appropriate.
  • Keep supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinate/communicate plans and activities with others to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Provide system training for end users and IT staff

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • High school diploma/GED is required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in related area
  • Advanced knowledge of RPGIV, RPGILE/400, RPG Free, CL etc. are a plus.
  • At least 6 years of work experience that includes the following:
    • Programming experience in RPGIV or RPGILE/400, RPG Free, CL.
    • Working closely with internal business associates to help define enhancements and develop new enhancements to business applications.
    • Working with 3rd party vendors and customers to integrate additional applications and support system functionality to meet their needs.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Current thorough knowledge of technical skills as they relate to the objectives of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep up to date on new software/hardware technology and other advancements.
  • Ability to effectively work with IT department staff, end users and others.
  • Ability to work closely with and understand business requirements and translate them to functional solutions within the business application.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be self motivated and able to work independently.

This is a remote position. Work is typically performed in an office environment.
