Compensation - $50,000 Salary

The Cost Specialist position is entry level into the Cost forecast group. They spend several months training how to help stores bid long term or large jobs, follow up with stores, and assist with ordering to maximize the net profit of those jobs. Once the jobs are sold and orders are placed, follow up calls are also made to make sure we have sufficient material on site for the job. Responsibilities also include analyzing invoices for national accounts to capture non-commodity items so we can increase profits with different purchasing strategies. Also, required is watching market reports on commodities to take advantage of optimal market conditions to increase profit dollars, and to work with store managers to maximize buying opportunities when they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Put together cost forecast for bidding stores.
  • Analyzing national accounts/sold jobs to maximize profit margin through different purchasing strategies
  • Implement purchasing strategies for sold and ongoing jobs
  • Follow up office calls with stores on pending and ongoing jobs
  • Analyzing purchasing strategies of non commodity items
  • Computer Skills: Spreadsheet and Internet Software, Word Processing
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports, financial reports and legal documents; respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community;
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Qualifications

The minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or at least 2 to 3 years of specific experience and/or training related to the essential functions of the job; or equivalent combination of education and training.
