Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Clinical Instructor, Pediatrics, Pediatric Primary Care Medicine

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide direct care to patients in the Division of Pediatric Primary Care Medicine at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and at the satellite practice locations in collaboration with an Attending Physician. The Clinical Instructor will be responsible for the following:

• Provide coverage with physician back-up one weekend a month.
• Provide education of staff nurses.
• Confer with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation and engagement in plan of care.
• Ensure execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and/or procedures.
• Contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed.
• Provide other required support to the Hospital-Medical Home grant implementation.
• For Nurse Practitioners - Assist in the annual review Nurse Practitioner protocols.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Nurse Practitioner:

New York State Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's Degree in Nursing (foreign equivalent or higher), or completion of a course for a Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Minimum of three years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.

Physician Assistant:

New York State Physician Assistant License and NCCPA certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelors of Science (foreign equivalent or higher) for Physician Assistant; Graduated from an ARC-PA accredited program. Minimum of three years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
