SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a Clinic Supervisor, R.N. to join our Addiction Medicine department. This full-time role will work onsite.

Purpose of this position: Within the context of the Hennepin County Medical Center Patient and Family - Centered Care (PFCC) Practice Model, and under general direction, performs work of considerable difficulty in planning, organizing, coordinating, evaluating, and directing nursing and clinical activities in the ambulatory clinics and telehealth nursing areas. Provides leadership, implements the vision, mission, core values, evidence-based practice, and standards of the organization specific to and nursing and clinical care done within the clinics.

The supervisor will support multiple clinics within the department including the Office Based Addiction Clinic, Psychiatric Addiction clinic, and the Opioid Management clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Responsible for management of daily clinical operations in the ambulatory clinical care setting to include designing, implementing, and maintaining clinical services assuring competency of staff while promoting efficient patient flow
  • Assures clinical staff is qualified and competent through the following job components:

    • Reviews and establishes clinical staffing needs, completes necessary staffing request forms, reviews applicant paperwork, and conducts interviews
    • In conjunction with the ambulatory education coordinators consults on curriculum and conducts specific employee orientation for clinical staff
    • Completes clinical staff performance reviews per organizational guidelines
    • Provides on-going monitoring and verification of clinical employee competencies
    • If individual or clinical competency deficits are identified connects with clinical educators to develop, implement, and evaluate a training plan to meet identified area of deficit (can be both clinic wide or individual)
    • Directs/supports compliance to regulatory and best practice standards, both in the clinical specific and organizational areas
    • Audits and monitors clinical competency through independent and organizational driven tools and plans


  • Knowledgeable and competent in the role of the clinical staff, able to competently fill in if needed in clinical roles to maintain patient safety and clinical staffing needs on an occasional basis
  • Ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff and maintains compliance with all safety requirements impacting areas of responsibility
  • Constantly determines and justifies daily and on-going clinical staffing needs
  • Develops, leads, and maintains the clinical components of the Excellence Council to:

    • Address and resolve clinical related issues
    • Promote highest level of clinical practice for patient care and safety for all members of the clinical team within the scope of licensure (RN, MA, LPN)


  • Works collaboratively with clinical staff to promote and improve and optimized, efficient, and effective clinical operations
  • Promotes a congenial work environment among staff based on mutual respect
  • Establishes and monitors clinical performance/quality improvement activities in the practice to comply with organizational expectations for providing effective, efficient, patient-centered care
  • Engages clinical staff in monitoring clinical skills, actions, and tasks and facilitates staff selection of appropriate indicators
  • Demonstrates and fosters good customer service skills to promote optimal patient satisfaction
  • Maintains clinical knowledge base, monitors, evaluates, and if indicated leads clinic and organizational change to update processes and care to meet ever changing best practice guidelines
  • Assists Clinic Manager in preparation of budget to ensure from a clinical perspective appropriate fiscal and human resource are allocated and appropriately used to support safe patient care within the best practice guidelines
  • Assures on-going clinical compliance with accreditation, credentialing, regulatory and professional standards, as well as HHS policies and procedures impacting the clinical area
  • Other functions as assigned


Communication:



  • Maintains effective working relations through strong communication skills up, down, and across the organization
  • Meets with entire staff on a frequent basis, to do the following:

    • Disseminates information
    • Gives employees opportunity for input and problem solving
    • Focuses on actions taken in such meetings
    • Follows-up with e-mail, department newsletter, postings of important information


  • Works closely with Medical Director and encourages and fosters participation of all physicians in running an efficient and effective clinic operation


Fiscal Management:



  • Assists Clinic Manger in developing and managing the clinical components of the budget

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:



  • BS/BA Degree in Nursing or Health Related Field and RN diploma or AD with equal level of experience and ability/willingness to obtain BS/BA within 5 years of hire
  • 5-8 years of ambulatory care experience with a minimum of 3 years in Ambulatory Care Clinical Leadership
  • Demonstrated experience and success in project management with a focus on team concepts for successful development
  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree


In Addiction Medicine:



  • Experience in substance abuse treatment or mental health setting
  • 2 or more years of direct work experience in one or more of the following areas:


      • a state and federally regulated Opioid Treatment Program (aka: a methadone program)
      • ambulatory primary care clinic (adults and/or adolescents)
      • ambulatory addiction medicine clinic with a focus in providing medication for opioid use disorder

  • Demonstrated understanding and facilitation of Health Team Concepts, ambulatory work flow, and designation of ambulatory roles and responsibilities in the ambulatory clinic setting


License/Certifications:



  • Minnesota nursing license as an RN or APN
