Position Summary

The Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine (SCPM) Department of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery invites applications for the full-time, clinical educator-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level. Responsibilities include teaching SCPM students in the large groups, small group, and one-on-one settings by providing instruction in surgery, applied biomechanics, medicine, and radiology rotations, didactic courses, and other assignments as designated by the department chair. Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, a national leader in inter-professional medical and healthcare education, is a graduate-level health sciences university situated on an attractive 85-acre campus in North Chicago, Illinois, approximately 40 miles north of the city of Chicago and 50 miles south of Milwaukee. As such, the University benefits from active collaborations with local hospitals, as well as academic institutions in both cities. The campus is shared with the North Chicago VA Medical Center and the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, both of which provide the Department with potential research and clinical training resources.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Prepare and assist in the preparation and formulation of didactic material.
* Prepare quizzes, midterm and final exams as dictated by the course syllabus.
* Consult with students about their academic progress.
* Use technology to supplement and enhance the learning environment for the students.
* Provide patient care at Community Podiatry sites or Scholl Foot and Ankle Clinics.
* Conduct research in the clinical setting in conjunction with the Center for Lower Extremity Ambulatory Research (CLEAR).
* Provide service to the College and University as agreed upon with the Chair.

All full-time faculty members employed by RFUMS are expected to engage in activities that are considered core to their primary role as a faculty member. These activities may include teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

Scholarly activities and/or clinical activities are negotiated and determined at the department level and are primarily based upon the faculty track.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
  • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination or a university approved exemption

Required Education & Experience

* Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from an accredited college of podiatric medicine.
* Successful completion of an approved Podiatric Residency in Medicine and Surgery.
* Board certification by ABFAS and/or ABPM.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

* Broad knowledge base in Podiatric Medicine, Surgery, Applied Biomechanics, and Radiology.
* Ability to function in a clinical arena, give direction and guidance to podiatric medical students and function as a team member.
* Ability to work collaboratively with interprofessional faculty.
* Excellence in verbal and written communications, teamwork, organization, time management and critical thinking.
* Strong potential for independent or collaborative scholarly activity.

Preferred Qualifications

* Completion of a certified fellowship in surgery, sports medicine, diabetes or biomechanics is encouraged, but not limited to the above specialties.
