Overview
Egan Company is seeking candidates for a Security Systems Specialist role, to join our team! As a Security Systems Specialist, you'll be responsible for designing and engineering security system solutions, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and alarm monitoring. This role ensures security systems are integrated with network infrastructure, meet client needs, and adhere to industry standards. In this role you'll work closely with sales, project management, and field teams to develop effective security solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
Responsibilities
Design security system solutions, including access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection, based on client requirements and industry best practices. Develop system drawings, equipment specifications, and integration plans for security and networked devices. Provide technical recommendations to clients and internal teams to optimize security system performance. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration with client networks Stay up to date on emerging technologies and security protocols to enhance system reliability and performance. Support sales and estimating teams by providing technical input and system recommendations for proposals. Assist field personnel in resolving design-related installation issues. Review and validate installation work to ensure it aligns with the design specifications and QA/QC standards. Ensure all designs comply with industry regulations such as NFPA, UL standards, and NIST cybersecurity guidelines. Recommend security best practices for networked security systems and data protection. Maintain thorough documentation, including system configurations, wiring schematics, and integration details. Provide remote support and make changes to access control, VMS, and intrusion systems. Travel to jobsites and customer sites as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (or equivalent work experience). 3+ years of experience in security system design, network administration, or a related field. Strong knowledge of security system technologies, including access control, CCTV, and alarm systems. Understanding of networking principles, including IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls, and remote access. Experience with security system software such as Genetec, Avigilon, Lenel, Honeywell, or similar platforms. Proficiency in reading and creating system drawings using AutoCAD or similar software. Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or manufacturer-specific credentials are a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret specs and blueprints; Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or Revit - intermediate to advanced proficiency. Knowledge of Security Systems, Networking, and Electrical basics; experience in a design role in the Networking or Security industry is highly preferred. Dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, with the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships. A proactive individual who works independently takes ownership of tasks, and ensures timely, high-quality results. Strong problem-solving, time management, and adaptability are essential. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate well with others in a team-oriented environment. Excellent organizational skills with a knack for dealing with competing customer needs. Proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions
This position qualifies for a hybrid work arrangement, with planned time in the office. Performance of duties will be in the office, at customer sites, and at job sites as needed. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
