General Summary:
The National Sales Manager oversees Account Manager activities within their designated sales region. This role involves identifying and generating sales leads, coordinating proposals, maintaining customer contact, and closing sales. As a global thought leader, the National Sales Manager operates independently, excels in customer-centric selling, and effectively communicates the value of Avient's products and services. They support their team and customers by leading and developing problem-solving strategies, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism to their daily tasks. This position requires up to 75% travel.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the sales team in profitably growing the business, as well as maintaining current account relationships to protect and serve existing business.
* Develop and hone strategy for market vertical (with Marketing) and drive customer execution strategy
* Drives all aspects of the vertical commercial execution plan to ensure resources are driving to plan attainment
* Develop, execute and manage sales plans, sales operating budgets, and expense budgets.
* Coach, motivate, lead, train and develop a customer focused, service/value oriented team of sales professionals with a high degree of professionalism by successful utilization of customer centric selling skills and tools such as use of scorecards, Business Reviews, high/wide/deep, EVE tools, 5 warning signals, prospecting and new account calls, cross selling, and effective CRM management.
* Establish performance standards and objectives, measure and provide feedback
* Drive customer engagement within our sales team and leadership team members and instill fundamental pre-call planning (Goal Process Benefit) and follow-up through SOUs (Summary of Understandings).
* Responsible for applying Avient's vision and business strategies to potential sales channels and optimizing potential opportunities. Developing and recommending a sales structure that optimizes sales territory and account coverage.
* Develops and implements systems to accurately forecast revenue generation, unit demands and the flow of orders to Avient.
* Directs the annual planning process and sales incentive plan development. Creating and implementing tools that measure territory opportunities and the achievement of assigned quotas
* Supports Field Operations in goal achievement.
* Interacting closely with Operations and Sourcing teams in NA to ensure customer expectations are met.
* Ability to interact with peers including other National Managers, Product Managers, and Technology Managers to position new innovative solutions and solve customer challenges to protect business
* Prepare periodic reports and regularly updates database showing sales volume, potential sales and status of active pursuits.
* Establish close customer contact to determine customer needs, and position Avient to satisfy those needs.
* Represent Avient at industry trade shows and exhibitions.
* Give customer presentations and demonstrations of products.
* Recommend product enhancements or changes based upon market feedback and increased sales potential.
* Monitor competitive activity and develop strategies to address to retain and/or grow business
* Experience in market vertical and understanding of formulation technology that delivers profitable growth preferred. #LI-CB1, #LI-Remote
