Essential Job Functions
The Recruiting Services Manager (RSM) is the primary contact and manager for employers utilizing Appalachian State's recruiting services, which include On-Campus Recruiting, Information Sessions, Job and Internship Postings, Career Fairs, and other employer engagement opportunities. The RSM establishes and maintains relationships with employers to provide quality on-campus recruiting opportunities for students and cultivate both student/alumni and employer relationships through career development events.

Responsibilities include managing all on-campus recruiting, overseeing the web-based recruiting system, coordinating employer visits and events, and collaborating with Career Counselors to identify and plan employer engagement activities. The RSM reviews, approves, and posts job and internship listings, ensures smooth interview scheduling for students and employers, and troubleshoots issues with the online career management system, Handshake. Additionally, the RSM supervises student workers assigned to Employer Relations and is responsible for coordinating campus-wide career events, such as career fairs and information sessions, including the development and administration of event evaluations.

The RSM also manages the marketing and design program for Employer Relations, which includes creating and managing digital and print signage to ensure consistent branding and effective communication. Proficiency in graphic design, social media management, and the ability to develop strategic marketing campaigns is essential. The role requires strong skills in content creation, audience engagement, scheduling, and tracking analytics across platforms. Familiarity with marketing software and design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and social media scheduling platforms is highly beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
The Recruiting Services Manager coordinates technical processing functions within Recruitment Program and Registration Management, often serving as the process and procedural expert. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of recruiting services, ensuring seamless program execution by planning and organizing activities, interpreting policies and procedures, and providing high-quality customer service to students, employers, and other stakeholders.

The position requires extensive knowledge of recruitment processes, career services operations, and related information technology systems. Serving as the primary point of contact for the program, the Recruiting Services Manager is responsible for problem-solving procedural issues, managing business accounts and records, and facilitating employer engagement efforts. Additionally, this role may involve supervising student employees, assisting with career fairs and recruiting events, and coordinating transactional services to support the overall success of the program.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with databases/computer information systems/web-based communications;
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to technology changes and/or feature enhancements as well as to recommend those;
  • Strong working knowledge of both print and digital marketing is essential to include graphic design, digital & print signage, social media management is required;
  • Possess excellent organizational skills including event management;
  • Balance multiple projects and set program priorities effectively;
  • Manage frequent interruptions and simultaneously demonstrate strong communication skills;
  • Exercise integrity, confidentiality, sensitivity, and discretion in interpreting and applying recruitment policies and procedures;
  • Assessment skills to review employer relations policies and make recommendations for needed changes;
  • General knowledge of budget management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign/Creative Suite, Technology, social media, database experience is desired.
  • Experience with supervision is a plus.

Ability to use concepts and language that are easy for others to understand. Ability to use active listening to assure mutual understanding through shared information and viewpoints.
