As a Lead Teleradiology Associate, you will provide services to patients and referring professionals by answering phones, managing faxes and scheduling appointments. Responsible for providing administrative and technological support for the teleradiology department by sending radiologic images over WAN and LAN between centers and to radiologists. Assists with training associates. This position is full-time, working Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (40%) Scheduling
- Answers phones and handles calls in a professional and timely manner
- Maintains positive interactions at all times with patients, referring offices and staff
- Schedules patient examinations according to existing company policy
- Daily responsibility for calling and scheduling as many patients for whom the Company currently has orders
- Ensures all appropriate personal, financial and insurance information is obtained and recorded accurately
- Ensures all patient data is entered into information systems completely and accurately
- Ensures patients are advised of financial responsibilities, appropriate clothing, preparation kits, transportation and/or eating prior to appointment
- Communicates to technologists any scheduling changes in order to ensure highest patient satisfaction
- Understands how and when to roll phones on and off answering service
- Alerts other clinics of phone problems that are passed along to your clinic
- Handles overflow calls for other centers within market to ensure uninterrupted exam scheduling for referring offices
- Maintains an up-to-date and accurate database on all current and potential referring physicians
- Obtains and enters new referring physician information in computer system data base and passes along to marketing for follow up
- Arranges transportation and hotel accommodations for patients when appropriate
- Provides back up coverage for front office staff as needed (i.e., rest breaks, vacations and sick leave)
- Pre-certifies all exams with patient's insurance company as required
- Verifies insurance for same day add-ons
- Uses knowledge of insurance carriers (example Medicare) and procedures that require waivers and obtains proper authorization if needed prior to appointment
(40%) Teleradiology Support
- Copies CD's of outside read exams when needed
- Forwards images and paperwork to appropriate radiologist and location
- Assists Radiologist Assistant with entering outside reads, networking and assigning cases
- Checks ACUO, eFilm and computers for proper function
- Troubleshoots FusionRIS, ACUO and eFilm issues
- Checks FuisonRIS for each site and modality for pending manual assignment
- Checks with on-call radiologist concerning exams that need to be networked to their homes on a daily basis
- Ensures that after hour reads are setup for the radiologist that is to read the scan
- Follows up with radiologist if previous day's exams not read
(15%) Staff Support
- Oversees scheduling and teleradiology departments and supervises associates
- Assists in the training of new scheduling specialists
- Leads regular staff meetings and associate one-on-ones
- Initiates and participates in staff performance evaluations, development of associates including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions
- Assists with managing overall staffing levels for adequate coverage at all times
- Ensures comprehensive knowledge of company policies and procedures for scheduling and teleradiology associates
(5%) Performs other duties as required Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have health insurance knowledge
- Understanding of managed care and physician office scheduling
- 2-3 prior customer service experience
- 1-2 years pervious health care experience
- Microsoft Office Suite experience
- Must be able to speak English
- Proficient with using computer systems and typing
- Must be able to handle multi-level phone system with a high volume of calls at one time
- Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance
Preferred:
- Previous supervisory experience
- Bilingual
