Job Description

General/Position Summary

The Director, Medical Affairs Systems is the lead and Medical Affairs owner for specific technology systems, projects and areas for innovation and serves as a key member of the Medical Affairs Technology and Innovation team. This role requires collaboration across the Medical Affairs organization at all levels up to the MLT, and with functional partners, to determine needs and requirements and to ensure systems, processes and analytics are meeting the needs of Medical Affairs teams. The Director is responsible for developing the strategy for their specific areas of responsibility in conjunction with the Digital Lead and DTE. The Director will lead the execution of the strategy, communication, organizational change management and ongoing system support. As a business system lead of the responsible systems, the Director would be expected to develop roadmaps, perform and lead user acceptance testing, and be accountable for any internal audits or compliance requirements. The Director will be responsible for budget tracking, sourcing support, vendor support, and systems support for their areas of responsibility.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for business-critical initiatives and projects as identified by Head, Digital Medical Affairs
  • Responsible for developing the strategy for specific areas of responsibility in conjunction with the Digital Lead and DTE
  • Lead the execution of the strategy, communication, organizational change management
  • Ensure ongoing system support to ensure excellent systems operations
  • Partners with Training Operations as the Medical Systems SME in execution of systems related training meetings
  • Communicates project status and other key metrics. Includes collecting information and ensuring accuracy of reports.
  • Regularly meet with key stakeholders for system and project updates and input
  • Ensure all systems meet all OBIE, Legal and Privacy requirements
  • Assists with risk mitigation planning, highlighting risks, timeline delays and other issues
  • Monitors project budget/spending and leads budgeting processes as part of annual business planning in conjunction with DTE related to areas of responsibility
  • Serves as the Medical Affairs representative on various cross-functional meetings in support of Global Systems initiatives

Required Education Level

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master or Doctoral degree in related field preferred

Required Experience

  • 8+ years Medical Affairs experience required in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry showing increasing levels of responsibility
  • Experience working in a technology or operations management role in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Field Medical experience
  • Experience with Veeva CRM or equivalent CRM
  • Experience with data, analytics and reporting systems (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau or similar)
  • Experience working with KPIs, Impact Measures and Activity Measures for Medical Affairs

Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience supporting cross-functional teams in matrix environment; skilled at exchanging complex/sensitive information and influencing others to take action.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow tasks through to completion
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Excellent ability to solve problems by applying technical experience and guided by precedents; works somewhat independently, escalating issues or engaging senior staff as needed
  • Ability to develop and track a project plan; skilled at budget tracking and reconciliation; detail oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Pay Range:

$190,700 - $286,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Flex Eligibility Status:

In this Remote-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Remote: work remotely five days per week and come into the office on occasion - you're always welcome on-site; or select
2. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
3. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
