Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Area Manager at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.
POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for leading the execution of production activities for a specific stage of construction (SOC), or dockside ships in our new shipbuilding construction process, focusing on electrical. The Ship Area Manager will be responsible and accountable for cost, productivity and schedule performance in their assigned SOC. The Ship Area Manager will be supported by middle and front line supervision from multiple trades. A Ship Area Manager will have responsibility for between 100-300 production employees on a daily basis. This position involves frequent, regular interaction with Manufacturing Senior Leadership team; their direct Supervisory team, union personnel, and Human Resources. The Ship Area Manager will provide regular status reports, performance metrics and updates on their continuous improvement process efforts to Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This position involves regular contact with our customer inspection teams, ABS and SUPSHIP inspection teams related to compliance with requirements, quality of work and adherence to schedule. This position may require interfaces with system/equipment suppliers. This position will have direct supervision of the manufacturing team consisting of General Foremen and front line Foremen. The Ship Area Manager will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MMC's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Supervisory responsibilities will include assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing employee and customer/employee complaints and problem resolution.
