The Safety and Compliance Manager will develop and execute Ascentek's DOT and Safety Programs, ensuring we provide our teammates with safe work environments that also meet regulatory requirements. The Safety and Compliance Manager will support efforts to proactively eliminate driver safety risks and workplace hazards via engineering controls, policies, work procedures, training, inspections, etc.

The Safety and Compliance Manager will also lead and participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and hazard identification and work with the operations teams to identify and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Additionally, a strong emphasis will be placed on developing a world-class DOT Safety program. The Safety and Compliance Manager will also support Safety compliance initiatives across the organization.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR TEAM(Overview & Key Responsibilities):



  • Through inspection and teammate engagement, proactively eliminate Driver Safety risks, safety hazards, and unsafe practices
  • Lead incident/near miss discoveries and root cause analysis
  • Responsible for the administration of Driver Qualification (DQ) files for all DOT regulated drivers. Performs audits of Driver Qualification files. Manages any inaccurate, expired, or missing items.
  • Develops and delivers training on compliance programs. Supports the company operations through various corporate administrative duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Works with SSE Team to support enterprise-wide safety initiatives
  • Helps maintain the list of Ascentek vehicles and performs audits of vehicle maintenance files to ensure compliance.
  • Helps to ensure that all random and reasonable suspicion drug tests are administered at the correct rate to keep Ascentek in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Performs audits to ensure compliance with all Hours-of-Service regulations.
  • Reviews Ascentek DOT safety management (CSA) scores on a regular basis and performs data challenges as needed for all Ascentek operations.
  • Works with the Driver Managers in the administration of the ELD logging devices and other vehicle safety programs, including general program administration and report generation.
  • Oversee all DOT & compliance programs; drive continuous improvement and best practices company-wide
  • Serve as the company subject matter expert in terms of DOT compliance, HAZMAT, and related state and Federal regulations
  • Analyze driving and vehicle safety data routinely to identify trends and provide feedback/guidance to the business; work with Operations leadership to enforce corrective action where needed
  • Form collaborative relationships with the business Operations teams
  • Ensure inspections and training programs continuously evolve and are executed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.



Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Safety or related field, and/or relevant experience in transportation.

Experience and/or Training:



  • Minimum 5 years' experience, preferably across a regional setting. Experience managing and/or knowledge of Safety and DOT compliance and regulations is required.
  • Experience managing enterprise Safety and DOT functions in manufacturing and transportation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, & FMCSA regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Technology/Equipment: Must have knowledge and experience with Microsoft applications such as Office, Excel, and Word. Must be flexible in learning new hardware and software applications


Schedule: Must be flexible with hours, occasionally working off hours and/or weekends

Travel: 20%

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while moving files, packages, equipment and/or supplies. The employee will have to frequently comprehend email, phone calls and customer orders and/or requests and make quick decisions in correlation to the event. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The mental and physical requirements described here are the representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in an office, warehouse and outside environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but fast paced and energetic. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.

The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $95,475 and $115,00 annually. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below:



  1. Experience and qualifications: The depth of relevant experience and specific skills you bring to the position.
  2. Education and certifications: Any additional qualifications that enhance your ability to succeed in the role.
  3. Market and industry benchmarks: We compare compensation packages with industry standards to ensure we are competitive.
