  • Base Pay Range:$39.90 to 58.86 per hour, based on experience.



  • Shift Differentials:Additional $2.75 per hour for evening, $4 per hour night, $3 per hour weekends

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION



  1. Manage day-to-day operations of running the OR schedule, including practice standards, staffing, and quality assurance.
  2. Make assignments in conjunction with service group managers and service line coordinators based on patient, surgeon, and anesthesiology requirements.
  3. Participate in schedule preparation, adhering to team limitations, case types, urgent/emergent demands, and case start times and lengths.
  4. Collaborate with the anesthesiology medical director and anesthesiologists to ensure the schedule runs efficiently per policies and procedures.
  5. Monitor on-time case starts for both elective and assigned urgent/emergent cases.
  6. Proactively review future schedules (next day, three days, and one week in advance) with the lead scheduler to address the need for scheduling adjustments. Coordinate advanced schedule situations with respective service group managers and anesthesiologists.
  7. Serve as a professional leadership role model, resource, and coach to nursing staff by providing ongoing support for professional development, adherence to patient and family-centered care, and quality outcomes.
  8. Support the OR manager and co-management team through activities including hiring, staff development, evaluation of staff competencies, employee engagement, and staff coaching as needed. Systematically review and document staff work-in-progress to ascertain expectations and clinical competencies. Complete monthly rounding and quarterly GROW discussions with staff members.
  9. Provide direct patient care as needed.
  10. Assure staff assignments are appropriate to the skill level of personnel.
  11. Participate in hospital fire, safety, and disaster programs.
  12. Support and enforce infection-control policies and procedures.
  13. Communicate effectively with the medical staff, nursing staff, and interdepartmental staff.
  14. Routinely communicate with service group managers regarding the status of cases.
  15. Make rounds and maintain awareness of the level of patient care performed in the holding area and PACU. Instruct and correct policy or procedure errors as needed.
  16. Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.
  17. Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.
  18. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

One (1) year of operating room or surgery RN experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.



  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI).



  • Supervisory experience.



  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
