Job Summary
A Managing Director "MD" Trader, Inst FI within KeyBanc Capital Markets ("KBCM") is a the highest level individual contributor trading professional on the fixed income platform. This individual will be responsible for managing his/her PnL across the platform, executing against the greater KBCM strategy while adhering to risk mitigation standards to ensure that trading activity is appropriate given any market condition.

Responsibilities

  • Manages PnL effectively - preserves and protects p/l in any market environment - has the ability to keep positions light if necessary
  • Engage investors through all available channels; in person, on zoom, or by phone
  • Ensure that all counterparties are approved before executing a trade
  • Partner closely with the Sales organization to expand investor relationships through every product channel
  • Always seeks to gain riskless business in a dynamic trading environment
  • Strategizes and seeks creative solutions to promote the platform and strengthen/deepen relationships, both internally
  • Exercises a pragmatic approach to inventory management
  • Communicates timely and relevant data to the internal constituents
  • Stays connected to the salesforce and customers through any market movement
  • Partner with other areas within Key to develop junior traders and new members to the platform
  • Act as a strategic partner to issuer clients (if appropriate) and/or banking groups, allowing for deals to be accurately and competitively priced.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience Qualifications

  • 8+ years of fixed income trading (required)
  • Extensive knowledge of capital markets and the dynamic trading environment (required)
  • Understands the nuances of the market - ability to navigate and persevere in a challenging trading environment to generate revenue (required)
  • Strong quantitative/analytical capabilities - candidate will be required to create and monitor metrics related to risk, capital allocation, and trading performance (required)
  • Deep understanding of trade positions within designated sectors (required)
  • Ability to liaise with an internal salesforce and external clients (required)
  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent (preferred)

  • Strong analytical and commercial reasoning
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Personal Skills

  • Decision Making: The ability to seek input from various sources and communicate decisions confidently and resolutely while remaining steadfast in championing decisions that later come under scrutiny
  • Problem Solving: Orchestrates the resolution of high-impact and cross-functional problems and successfully organizes problem solvers and stakeholders; Works to predict and explain long-term trends and implications of problems and gains agreement on problem-solving process, decision points, and criteria

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $275,000 to $300,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
