Manufacturing Engineer i Machine Shop

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer Machine Shop position is responsible for managing production in an aerospace machine shop. The position will work with the Kratos Machine Shop and external machine shops to ensure machining jobs are completed in a timely and cost-effective method while meeting job specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Review drawings/models to determine job requirements.
• Work with KSRE Machinists and Engineers to modify part designs as needed based on manufacturability.
• Support scheduling of the Kratos Machine Shop. Resolve scheduling conflicts as needed.
• Create bids (cost and timeline) for incoming machining jobs.
• Establish relationships with external machine shops to outsource machining work as needed.
• Establish relationships with materials processors to outsource coatings and material treatment processes.
• Assist with standard machining and inspection practices and procedures.
• Support Quality and Engineering with the development of inspection plans for machining jobs.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: iiNo supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Planning and Organization - Systematically identifies issues to be addressed and plans a course of action for self and others to ensure the accomplishment of specific objectives.
• Attention to detail - Utilizes established monitoring system, records data accurately and in a timely manner, and ensures accuracy of data.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance
• Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Associates in Machine Tool Technology or other technical field.
• Machine Shop Experience
