Description Location: NAS Patuxent River Security Clearance Requirement: Secret Telework Eligible? On-Site As the Flight Deck Engineer, you will assist with the operations and support of all the various components of flight deck, associated hardware/software including core avionics systems. The general responsibilities of this position are to plan, coordinate, conduct, and provide senior level expertise while supporting the brand new E-130J platform, as well as the legacy E-6B in PMA-271 with respect to their flight deck and core avionics strategy, objectives, and plans. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing plans, participating in operations, and identifying possible deficiencies, issues, risks, and potential improvements for certified E-6B Flight Deck and Core Avionics.
- Prescribing corrective action for deficiencies and evaluating new capabilities to improve the E-6B's flight performance, mission performance, safety, and combat readiness.
- Interacting as necessary, on behalf of PMA-271/E-6B with external flight certification agencies.
- Assisting in addressing obsolescence/DMSMS challenges, developing/assessing plans and procedures to reduce risks, increasing performance, and providing a flight deck and associated hardware/software that meets the E-6B mission requirements.
- Support drafting, reviewing, and modifying of Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS) for update and/or maintenance of E-6B Flight Deck systems and components.
- Supporting the IPT Lead with schedule creation and management of contracted activities and tech insertion at Depot or Flightline.
- Acting as technical reviewer and approver of CDRL submissions in support of IPT Lead.
- Support defining, investigating, and planning of future updates for E-6B Flight Deck and Avionics systems and components.
- Participating in SETR events, technical interchange meetings, conferences, and teleconferences convened to discuss E-6B Air Vehicle objectives, contracts, risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Assisting in a team environment, either in-person or virtual to assure products and services related to E-6B flight deck and associated hardware/software are provided within budget, on schedule, and meeting all fleet requirements.
- Travel up to 25% of the time may be required for this role.

- You have a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field.
- You have experience in NAVAIR/NAWCAD acquisition, including systems engineering, requirements definition, testing, and certification of avionics and software.
- You have proven leadership and management experience.
- You have experience with DO-178C application, compliance and meeting RNP/RNAV, Performance Based Navigation Requirements for CNS/ATM certification.
- You have experience with the general flight deck, flight management system, certifications, flight control system, display systems, and transponders.

Salary Range:
