This role:

Simtra is seeking highly motivated undergraduate students for our Summer Internship Program. We look for diverse students with inquisitive minds and the desire to challenge themselves. Our interns work closely with industry professionals and learn quickly how to problem solve on real-world projects that contribute to clinical research and manufacturing processes. In addition to on-the-job experience, we offer learning sessions with top leadership, site visits to local projects and social events.

The CAPEX (Sustainability) Engineering team focuses on the planning, execution, and optimization of capital projects aimed at improving manufacturing processes, facilities, and equipment. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teams - including reliability, manufacturing/operations, quality, validation, and regulatory affairs - to ensure capital projects align with company goals, regulatory requirements (FDA, cGMP, ISO), and sustainability initiatives. The ideal student will assist in the planning, budgeting, and execution (all stages) of capital projects.

The Engineering CAPEX intern will conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for capital investments. They will assist in vendor selection, procurement, and coordination for equipment upgrades. They will also perform data collection and analysis to trac project performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability impact.

Required qualifications:

• Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Biomedical, or Electrical)
• Completion of at least 3rd year of undergraduate studies
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail including the ability to accomplish a task while demonstrating a thorough concern for all the areas involved
• Knowledge of capital project principles, process engineering, and equipment design
• Preferred experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
• Preferred experience with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera)
• Preferred experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others in a proactive, positive and constructive manner
• Proven critical thinking and creativity skills; solve problems by applying technical and functional experiences
• Highly motivated, self-driven individual with passion working within pharmaceutical industry
