Job Summary

Works closely with the Director of Online Learning and departments in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education on initiatives related to online course development that meet the specifications of the degree program, leveraging education technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, and the success needs of our online students and faculty.

  • Works closely with the Director of Online Learning, subject matter experts, and cross-departmental stakeholders to implement initiatives and projects geared towards improving the development, design and delivery of online courses in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education.
  • Works closely with faculty developing new online courses and enhancing existing ones to promote the implementation of quality assurance standards, best practices, and AI-driven tools and technologies to elevate the quality and effectiveness of their assigned online courses.
  • Collaborate with the Division of IT, ETS, and FIU Online to explore education technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, and evaluate their potential for enhancing online learning experiences within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education.
  • Develops comprehensive training programs, online workshops, and digital resources that help faculty incorporate technological tools, such as Artificial Intelligence, into their online courses, ensuring they can leverage these technologies to enhance virtual teaching and learning.
  • Assists in identifying the development needs of online courses/labs and works closely with the Director of Online Learning and FIU Online to find solutions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Assists with monitoring the progress of online courses and programs to ensure the success of students and faculty (i.e., pass rates, online course offerings, capacities, etc.), and makes informed recommendations for AI-related tools and technologies to enhance the success of students and faculty.
  • Works closely with instructors, departments, and FIU Online to ensure the design and development of online courses aligns with the academic goals of the college and are progressing in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to project or initiative timelines and scope to ensure online deliverables meet established deadlines and budgetary parameters.
  • Maintains contact with faculty, staff, Department of IT, Educational Technology Services, FIU Online, and other key stakeholders to support the development, implementation, and continued success of online programs and courses in the college, while integrating AI-driven tools and technologies to enhance online learning, streamline course design, and improve the overall educational experience.
  • Adheres to guidelines. University and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and one (1) year of appropriate experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of online course development and pedagogical best practices, specifically in STEM online course, including lectures and labs.
  • Knowledge of Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Education in a technology field, instructional design, higher education administration or related area.
