Job Summary AUSA News is looking for a New Jersey based, talented, aggressive, self-starting freelance videographer, editor. The ideal candidate should be able to shoot, edit (and occasionally write) clearly and creatively. Must also be capable of operating assigned camera and editing gear. The freelance videographer, editor will work independently or as part of a team to create pictures and sound which accurately and fairly represent the news, recording raw video and audio and turning it into finished high-quality newsmagazine product. Responsibilities Gather information, shoot video content, interviews, and other elements necessary to produce and edit thorough, high-quality newsmagazine packages. Maintain a deep level of familiarity with New Jersey based hyper-local news events in order to generate original stories. Represent News 12 positively in the community in a courteous and professional manner. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned. A team player who can work flexible hours including evenings, early mornings and weekends. Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in journalism or communications preferred, master's degree is a plus Proven proficiency as videographer using higher end Sony Cameras Proven proficiency in lighting interviews for higher end newsmagazine storie Minimum 5 years of digital post-production experience; editing in Adobe Premiere Pro Minimum 5 years working in a high-pressure environment meeting tight deadlines Ability to read video scopes and audio levels Demonstrated strong editorial judgment Proven experience editing content for a variety of digital platforms, in non-traditional. formats and resolutions Strong understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery Strong understanding of frame rates, aspect ratios, and resolutions Ability to work independently in a one-man band, backpack, multimedia environment Knowledge of local New Jersey locations and current events, newsmakers, and issues Knowledge of libel laws and ethical foundations of journalism We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to recruiting, hiring and promoting qualified people of all backgrounds regardless of gender, race, color, creed, national origin, religion, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law.
