The Maintenance Lead oversees all maintenance activities, providing leadership to maintenance technicians. Collaborating with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner, and Reliability Engineer, the Maintenance Lead ensures efficient scheduling, execution, and supports the professional development of the technicians. Safety, trust, and teamwork are key priorities.

Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Accountable for safe maintenance activities. Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels. Will promote, teach and improve safety systems and procedures to employees and contractors such as LOTO, permits to work, safety audits
  • Promote and ensure adherence to 5S standards and safety/housekeeping policies.

Work Scheduling:

  • Actively participate in Daily Operating Instruction meetings, reporting on results and insights from completed maintenance (PM) activities.
  • Own the maintenance scheduling system, ensuring alignment with maintenance plans and identified work from weekly meetings.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to minimize plant downtime and maximize safety
  • Work with maintenance personnel and the maintenance planner to ensure correct prioritization and timely completion of all work orders and sets out work on a weekly or day to day basis
  • Navigate and utilize software programs (SAP, Microsoft Office proficiency preferred).

Work Execution:

  • Oversee and ensure the successful execution of planned maintenance activities, including outage scheduling.
  • Set and maintain high standards in all aspects of maintenance activities
  • Serve as a coach and resource for the maintenance team, acting as a bridge between operations and maintenance teams
  • Work with engineering team(s) for more complicated maintenance and/or process improvements.
  • Engage in post-job reviews for continuous improvement.

People:

  • Directly supervises Maintenance Technicians (mechanical, electrical & multi-craft), including approving timesheets, vacation requests, and managing department overtime needs
  • Holds Maintenance Technicians accountable and administers corrective/disciplinary procedures when employees are not in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Fosters Teamwork, collaboration, and trust in the work environment
  • Align with each technician to determine training paths and support development needs in both technical and soft skills.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to technicians. Evaluate technicians through scheduled formal written performance reviews. Take corrective action as necessary according to company policy.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience supervising maintenance personnel is preferred
  • 3+ years within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong motivational and team development skills, fostering respect and accountability.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Thorough understanding of plant operations, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance, asset care, and maintenance planning/scheduling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office preferred
