Job Title: Construction Inspector

Duration: 24 months

Hours/Week: 40 hours a week

Roles And Responsibilities:

• The Construction Inspector will perform quality assurance inspections and project monitoring for PennDOT's City Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation project, in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, PA and other 3rd Party Reimbursable projects as determined by the SEPTA Project Manager.
• The Construction Inspector will also review project scope of work, plans, and specifications.
• The assignment for the Construction Inspector will require site investigation.

Required Experience:

• Ensure that construction personnel and activities are not interfering with SEPTA operations and facilities, such as running trains and catenary/C&S wires.
• Monitor construction activities for conformance to project plans, site-specific work plans, and railroad or transit worker safety regulations.
• Maintain and submit daily inspection reports which will include sufficient accuracy, detail, photographs, and time references for the basis of claims avoidance or defense.
• Conduct an off-track briefing to the construction crew before they perform work, if necessary.
• Provide weekly summary reports, which will include a summary of work completed in the previous week, outstanding or open issues, and anticipated project progress for week ahead.
• Assist in the clarification and/or interpretation of approved documents and keep SEPTA informed of resolutions.
• Assist with outage coordination and power permits, as needed.
• Perform tasks as deemed necessary by the SEPTA Project Manager.

• A college degree is preferred, but not required. Experience in the construction field is required.

• Prior to starting the project, the candidate must have SEPTA Railroad and Transit Roadway Worker Safety Training completed and ID card issued.

• Microsoft Office Suite and job specific applications.

• Normal office equipment including PCs and related accessories.
