Position Description

The Production Manager (PM) performs a wide variety of duties to direct, coordinate, train and manage the work activities of the production personnel in a manufacturing environment specializing in specialty die cutting. Creates a "we can" environment in production. Ultimately responsible for P & L support, quality assurance, personnel development, on time delivery of manufactured products, and customer satisfaction. The PM has direct oversight over all Production Department staff, inventory, and equipment. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.

Key Position Duties Required to be Successful as a Production Manager



  • Directs and monitors the work of production personnel to ensure accuracy and quality of parts, while fostering a mindset of safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Oversees all scheduling & coordinating activities to optimize throughput, while meeting if not exceeding customer delivery dates while balancing workforce constraints
  • Responsible for inventory management, inventory risk & carrying cost mitigation, and space optimization
  • Communicates with other departments any production issues, equipment issues, or personnel issues.
  • Reviews product returns with Sales and Production teams to determine corrective action and implements necessary production adjustments.
  • Resolves all equipment, personnel, material, or production issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a manufacturing area that complies with state and federal regulations (OSHA, etc.) and company standards.
  • Audits work orders, postings, labor reports etc. to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Coaches and enforces established company core values KPI's, rules and regulations.
  • Drives full understanding and implementation of company customer service philosophy and procedures amongst production employees.
  • Ability to motivate hourly production teams while actively identifying and effectively dealing with performance problems.
  • Demonstrates and drives a customer-centric mindset; works with other departments to be a solutions-oriented provider.
  • Exhibits thorough product knowledge and excellent technical knowledge to help solve production problems, with strong interpersonal leadership skills.
  • Maintains deep knowledge of all manufacturing equipment and actively supports trouble shooting, maintenance, and optimization of equipment.
  • Trains production personnel on safety and proper use of equipment.
  • Partners with Quality Assurance to update and maintain all training and ISO Documentation.
  • Responsible for all onboarding, training, and training of employees within production and shipping/receiving.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Operations, Production, Design or related-field, and 10+ years of production environment experience required, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong English reading, writing, and oral communication abilities required.
  • Experienced in the Management of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives required.

Physical Requirements:



  • This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard manufacturing equipment, as well as standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • Repetitive use of hands/dexterity to handle and control various manufacturing related tools/controls.
  • Standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Close and distant vision, accurate color perception, and peripheral vision are critical.
