Role: Responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining network infrastructure to support data, voice, video, and wireless services. Provides hands-on support for routers, switches, firewalls, VMWare NSX, and load balancers while optimizing network performance and security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.




  • Network Design & Maintenance


    • Configure and manage LAN/WAN environments, VLANs, VPNs, and subnetting.
    • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
    • Implement and manage Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and SD-WAN solutions.
    • Maintain fiber switches and associated infrastructure.
    • Optimize network performance through monitoring, troubleshooting, and proactive upgrades.



  • Security & Compliance


    • Configure and maintain firewalls (Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
    • Enforce IT security policies, including access controls and 802.1X authentication.
    • Conduct network security audits and vulnerability assessments.



  • Wireless & Cloud Networking


    • Manage Cisco Meraki wireless access points.
    • Ensure secure and efficient wireless connectivity.
    • Work with virtualized networking environments (VMware NSX, vCenter).



  • Support & Documentation


    • Provide technical support and incident response within SLA guidelines.
    • Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution.



  • Telecom Support


  • Provide technical support for Unified Cisco Call Manager (UCCM, UCaaS).
  • Proficient in voice and related technology.
  • Troubleshooting circuits and ISP related issues.



Education:



  • Associate's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering required; Bachelor's preferred.



Experience:



  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a fast paced and dynamic technical support environment or equivalent with a combination of education and experience.



Certifications:



  • Required: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Preferred: Check Point Certified Admin (CCSA), or other relevant certifications.



Technical Skills:



  • Expertise in routing, switching (L2/L3), and network security.
  • Proficiency in fiber infrastructure and load balancers.
  • Experience with Cisco platforms (ISE, VoIP, Meraki).
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, LiveAction).
  • Understanding of SD-WAN, cloud networking, and virtualization.



Soft Skills:



  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to document procedures and effectively communicate with stakeholders.



Physical Demands & Work Environment:



  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs for hardware installations.
  • Work in a quiet office environment with occasional field visits.
  • Travel required up to 30%.



Language:



  • English: Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to interact effectively with employees, vendors, and external contacts. Ability to communicate and present information to all levels of management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and/or finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Some lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling equipment is involved when handling service calls outside the department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Full-time in office position requiring occasional on-call availability for critical server incidents.
