Is an internship passionate about changing the world's energy future intriguing? If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for! In this paid internship, you will use INL's Pronghorn code to perform thermal fluids simulations of coolant mixing in the lower plenum of a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. The results from the Pronghorn simulations will be compared to existing computational fluid dynamics simulations to benchmark Pronghorn's performance in modeling lower plenum mixing. You will report to the Thermal Fluid Systems Methods and Analysis group. The ideal candidate will have experience with MOOSE/Marmot/BISON, STAR-CCM+, Verification and Validation. This team works a 9x80 schedule and operates onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. The start date and duration of the internship vary based on project and student availability.
