Plant Engineer

Responsible for capital projects, larger maintenance projects that require contractors, contractor requirements, process studies, improvements, technical input on safety issues, developing, tracking and maintain data used to improve facility operations and financial performance.

Essential Functions & Requirements:



  • Coordinate, update and maintain all drawings, equipment, PSM documentation and procedural changes generated from PHA's and PSSRs.
  • Management of Change (MOC) engineering support.
  • Provides project management on multiple projects, including RCRA compliance projects. Oversees to ensure that work is done safely within project scope and budget and to accomplish project objective.
  • Prepares reports documenting project activities to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Manages, oversees and provides technical support on various construction projects.
  • Provides and oversees engineering design and cost estimation of plant modifications/upgrades.
  • Assists in responding to and preparing permit applications and/ or modifications.
  • Supports multiple facilities both owned/and or operated by Heritage.
  • Statistical analysis of data and Supports capacity planning,
  • Coordinate the finalization of the Fire protection system changes and general PMs for fire protection system.
  • Mechanical Integrity (MI) Program.
  • Perform MI inspections on tanks, pipes & pumps as determined by inspection frequency reviews.
  • Complete MI evaluations on inspected equipment based on inspection results, service history and engineering calculations.


  • Possible on call/shift work duties.
  • Write and/or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education:



  • Four year college engineering degree required; mechanical or chemical preferred.


Experience:



  • Minimum of 3 years' experience required.
  • Hazardous waste or chemical handling experience a plus.


Competencies:



  • Ability to learn and apply federal state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the environmental services industry, as well as engineering standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
