Pre-Construction Manager - Industrial

Position Purpose: Oversight, engagement and management of preconstruction team to provide operational project procurement and execution support by means of contract adherence, resource planning, project oversight, estimating, BIM development, consultation, and technical insight as it relates to the coordination with project owners and partners, equipment procurement, construction planning, and other areas as necessary to meet project milestones for projects in development, proposal, or pre-construction phase of Industrial construction projects.

Essential Responsibilities

* Responsible for thoroughly understanding project scopes and contracts - evaluating, identifying, and communicating project requirements and associated with project risks to the appropriate team members ensuring MJE is compliant with contractual terms and the scoped deliverables are focused on meeting the client's expectations

* Review technical information (drawings, schematics, take offs, estimates, proposals) provided by the Owner, Client and/or Engineering firm to interface with the Estimating Team and Operations to perform and interpret that information resulting in associated constructability reviews and project pricing

* Work closely with 3rd party design engineers and customers to assure the design engineers are coordinated to work efficiently and meet contract requirements, budgets, forecasts, and schedules. Ensures that engineering and procurement related barriers for construction progress are removed effectively

* Work closely with the Owner/Client on project planning and scheduling while assessing project issues and identifying solutions to ensure project is delivered on-time and within budget while meeting client and regulatory requirements

* Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines, and objectives to assist with the development and tracking of key project performance metrics

* Ensure project quality control, coordinating with project owners and partners as necessary and by facilitating discussions with a detailed project plan and high-level status dashboards to track progress against planned milestones

* Ensure that MJE Senior Management is kept informed on the progress of projects, business opportunities and industry trends

* Consult with Clients and Owners regarding design requirements, job specifications, bid requirements and offer technical expertise regarding design solutions

* Understand critical design requirements of on-going projects and continuously monitor quality to ensure compliance

* Effectively interfaces with internal commercial /legal team to ensure alignment of proposals, redlines, and contract negotiations meet overall business goals

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities

* Strong understanding of electrical construction in a large-scale commercial/industrial environment

* Resource management skills with a successful track record of achievements on complex projects

* High proficiency in Accubid estimating software

* Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges by all parties during stressful situations

* Willingness to travel overnight as necessary for field support, to attend customer meetings, and to develop project opportunities

* Able to lead project communication in parallel with project lifecycles at all stages

* Ability to provide oversight to numerous projects throughout a large geographic area

* Able to identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.

* Able to work in a team environment and/or independently

* Proficient use of MS Office tools to effectively communicate and present both in electronic format and verbally

* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and schematics, engineering studies

* Understanding of BIM integration on building trade projects

* Experience in finance and budgeting preferred

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to demonstrate creativity, foresight, and appropriate judgment in anticipating and solving problems

Qualifications

* Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration or equivalent experience

* 10+ years of Project Management, Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or related experience in commercial/industrial scale construction and or the design build construction industry preferred

Work Environment

* The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

* Requires approximately 50% travel

* Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, scanner, and computer printer

* Occasionally lifting 20 pounds
