Overview

SMS is looking for a Network Administrator / Technical Control on the Kirtland AFB C4 Contract in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The position will provide daily operation and maintenance in support of the Kirtland Metro Ethernet Transport System, TDM networks, Fiber Infrastructure and Circuit Actions across Kirtland AFB. Responsibilities will include design, configuration, installation, documentation, and troubleshooting of campus data networks and transport of DISA, commercial, and point to point circuits. Position requires after hours and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Candidates must be able to provide the implementation and technical support of networking products in LAN, WAN, or Internet services environments. Candidates for this position shall be able to demonstrate proficiency within the following aspects:

    Troubleshoot, repair, and deploy ground level and orbital networks and devices in support of the Command Post
  • Perform configuration and management of Kirtland Metropolitan Ethernet Transport System (KMETS) switches.
  • Perform troubleshooting on circuit connectivity issues.
  • Participate in work for Node Site Coordinator duties associated to the team to include working with DISA Circulars, TSRs, TSOs, SAMs, and circuit actions.
  • Work with customer contacts to design efficient, cost-effective network solutions within mandated security parameters.
  • Configure and support IP technologies including MPLS, VRRP, OSPF, VLAN, Spanning-tree, NAT, and 802.1x.
  • Install, terminate, test, and label fiber optic and Category 6 cables and hardware in all supported locations.
  • Configure and manage interconnected Cisco, Brocade, Ruckus, and/or Extreme products and technologies.
  • Configure and troubleshoot TDM circuit distribution technologies including T1, DS3, SONET, HDSL, and point to point or point to multi-point MODEMs.


Qualifications

  • Possess a detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of IP routers. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
  • Ability to design efficient, cost-effective network solutions within mandated security parameters.
  • TCP/IP and TDM fundamentals and IP sub-netting, super-netting, and hierarchical routing principles.
  • Significant field experience and knowledge of data networking and IP technologies including MPLS, VRRP, OSPF, VLAN configuration, Spanning-tree, NAT, and 802.1x.
  • Experience installing, terminating, testing, and labeling of fiber optic and Category 6 cables and hardware.
  • Experience configuring and managing Cisco, Brocade, Ruckus, or Extreme products and technologies.
  • Experience with the management of network appliances (e.g. NMS, NTP, TACACS, RADIUS).
  • Experience with TDM circuit distribution including T1, DS3, SONET, HDSL, and point to point or point to multi-point MODEMs.
  • Prior work with DISA Circuit Actions, TSRs, TSOs, SAMs, DISA circulars is a plus.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in both a team setting, as well as independently in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, and possess the ability to direct the activities of other team members.
  • Applicant must be diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable.
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License Required
  • Requires a SECRET security clearance
  • Requires CompTIA Security+ CE
  • BICSI installer certification or NM ES-7J preferred
