The Associated Press seeks a journalist who is creative, passionate about experimentation and eager to join a new beat team focused on climate solutions. This team will work to advance explanatory reporting, examining how everyday decisions by individuals, groups and corporations impact our climate and environment. This position is covered by AP's agreement with the News Media Guild. The temporary position lasts for one year, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will:
Required Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: You must have the ability to report and package engaging stories about climate solutions that will resonate with an audience that is interested in - but not an expert in - climate topics. You must be able to work swiftly and accurately under tight deadlines, and plan and complete short- and long-term projects. The successful candidate should have at least one year of full-time experience as a reporter, video journalist or social media producer at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk. We will consider strong candidates who do not meet every listed qualification. You may use a cover letter to describe the unique qualifications you would bring to this role. This position is covered by The Associated Press' contract with the News Media Guild, which provides for an annual salary for Class A staff of between $52,046 and $82,934 based on location and years of professional experience.
