This position is located on Roi-Namur on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits of this unique location include free housing, three meals a day and potential for overseas tax incentives.

Essential Functions
  • Highly skilled machinist with demonstrated mechanical ingenuity who is capable of machining complex highly variable, and/or non-repetitive parts to exacting tolerances without supervision.
  • Machinist will directly support Kiernan Reentry Measurements System (KREMS) Sensors in the fabrication of one-of-a-kind components in a dynamic environment often requiring collaboration with multiple stakeholders and customers.
  • Machinist will be responsible for project design, Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programming, machining and inspection.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Exercises ingenuity in the Machinist trade, having complete knowledge of standard practices, machine capacity and the machinability of materials used.
  • Proficient skills with CNC Mills and Lathes.
  • Experienced with SolidWorks software for CNC design, layout and editing.
  • Demonstrated ability to read machine program codes.
  • Ability to set up and independently operate plain, universal, horizontal, vertical and independent standalone machining equipment.
  • Skilled at applying various machining methods to improvise and adapt tooling in order to fully utilize all functions of the machine and to minimize the number of setups and the amount of machining required.
  • Ability to check parts machined against requirements for accuracy using precision measuring instruments, such as dial calipers, micrometers, scales and gauges.
  • Competent in mechanical design, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) measurements, layout and fabrication.
  • Calculates dimension and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
  • Experienced with 3D printers utilizing resin Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sinter (SLS) technologies.
  • In-depth working knowledge of the equipment to perform basic maintenance, troubleshoot and repair simple errors of the machines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, with customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and translate documents such as engineering drawings, tooling drawings, engineering change documents, schematics, diagrams and manuals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to balance, plan, prioritize and execute assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Able to adapt to changing situations, deadlines and work environments.
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities, cultures, and attitudes.
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).

Required Experience

  • Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology or completion of a Precision Machining Technology program or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in an industrial manufacturing machine operating environment.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to relocate to Roi Namur, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, kneel and lay horizontally as the job may require.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and steps, and work at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces depending on the maintenance requirement.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a USAG-KA driver's license.
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support emergencies, and specific project or mission requirements.
