Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
In this pivotal role you will be joining a team of lawyers and contracts professionals directly engaged in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with customers and vendors. Reporting to the Director of Legal Affairs, your responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, managing contractual relationships including operational tasks and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, assisting with corporate and other functions, and other legal tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications
- Attorney licensed and in good standing with the bar association of a state or the District of Columbia and, if not already admitted, eligible for admission to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- 3-5 years' experience drafting and negotiating agreements
- Experience in working in a technology-driven small business or start-up environment
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills, including the ability to highlight key points in a succinct manner to internal clients and executive management based on sound quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a strong ability to build consensus and efficiently and effectively guide individuals at all levels of the organization through established or new processes
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and strategically, exercise superior reasoning skills and sound business judgment to influence decision making, and interface effectively with executive management
- Commitment to the highest professional ethical standards
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in working in a telecommunications or software company
- Experience in government contracting
- Knowledge of and proficiency with contract management systems generally; Workday and LinkSquares experience is a plus

- Get onboarded and train with your manager
- Ask questions and get acclimated into the role
- Understand the different clients and stakeholders of the Legal Department
- Develop an understanding of the company's products and services and the contractual forms the company uses to transact business
- Become familiar with the tools and platforms the Legal Department uses
At 3 months we'll expect you to...
- Understand the company's corporate structure, ownership, leadership, and general management systems
- Perform textual review and issue-spotting on smaller contracts, and brief your manager on relevant points
- With appropriate supervision, plan for and engage in negotiations of contractual points with counterparties including vendors and smaller customers
- Demonstrate a working understanding of the parameters within which Aireon enters into contracts
At 6 months we'll expect you to...
- Have formed positive relationships with Aireon's Sales team and other internal clients, including the communication channels necessary to gather business input and direction
- With managerial supervision and approval, engage in negotiations with vendors and commercial customers and achieve successful outcomes
- Demonstrate your readiness and ability to undertake assigned legal projects, with decreasing amounts of managerial supervision being required depending on subject matter
- Understand your limitations and opportunities for improvement, and suggest plans for growth and improvement
At 12 months we'll expect you to...
- Operate independently with limited supervision as a contributing member of the Legal Department
