Business Architect


Job Summary

The Business Architect is responsible to function as a partner to the strategic business stakeholders by working closely with them to analyze issues, needs, and opportunities. This position provides guidance and counsel in conceiving IT initiatives through which the IT organization will assist the business in addressing such issues, needs, and opportunities. In addition, this role will function as an IT liaison between the Business and IT organizations and oversees IT projects through intake, discovery, requirements, and design phases. The Business Architect ensures alignment between the project and business objectives, supporting projects in the build/development, testing, and implementation phases until the project delivers a solution which addresses the original issues, need or opportunity.


Essential Functions
(Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities)

  • Analyzes the activities of a particular business unit or line of business and makes recommendations pertaining to the project that the business unit should initiate
  • Addresses complex and conflicting information about the business to develop high-level business context diagrams and architecture models
  • Provides a clear picture of the business capabilities map and the applications footprint of various applications across the map for a particular business unit or line of business
  • Develops a business architecture strategy for the business unit based on situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations
  • Assimilates and correlates disconnected documentation, drawings, and articulates their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
  • Provides detailed design and specification documentation for infrastructures, technologies, applications and/or databases
  • Recommends policies and strategic goals that manage and assume risk for the technology functions under limited oversight

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in information technology or related field
  • 8 years of business architecture or related experience
  • Healthcare payer insurance and provider network experience
  • Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis
  • Advanced technical/professional knowledge and skills, with strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and accuracy, business acumen, collaboration, and presentation abilities

  • Advanced level skills in problem resolution, decision-making, flexibility, adaptability, and effective communication both verbally and in writing




Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 years of business architect or related experience of which 7 years were spent in the healthcare industry


Environment and Cognitive/Physical Demands

  • Office environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping

Below is the salary range for potential new hires.

Salary Range: $91,158.44 - $149,931.95

Other Compensation: Incentive Plan

Lifestyle Benefit: $50/month
