Position Overview
The Kansas Geological Survey (KGS) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Laboratory Technician. This full-time position focuses on supporting the analysis of water and aqueous solutions using a variety of advanced analytical instruments, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, TOC, IC, nutrient analyzer, and alkalinity titration systems. The ideal candidate will assist in day-to-day lab operations, sample analysis, data QA/QC and analysis, and instrument maintenance.
If you are passionate about contributing to geochemical research and learning valuable laboratory skills, we encourage you to apply. Job Description 40%: Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, TOC analyzers, IC, nutrient analyzers, and alkalinity titrators.
35%: Perform essential lab tasks such as preparing chemical standards, sample filtration, acidification, cleaning glassware, and conducting precise sample measurements. 20%: Assist with data analysis and QA/QC, instrument calibration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards. 5%: Participate in occasional field sampling campaigns. Required Qualifications
