Position Summary

The Pile Driver is responsible for installing deep foundation systems, including steel, concrete, or wood piles, to support various Deep Foundations projects. This role involves operating and maintaining pile driving equipment, ensuring proper alignment and depth of piles, and working in various site conditions to support construction projects. The operator works closely with project teams to meet project schedules and quality standards while adhering to Forgen's core values and safety protocols.

Forgen Deep Foundations Overview

At Forgen, we deploy a wide range of deep foundation techniques, including driven piles of all types, drilled shafts, auger-cast/displacement piles, micropiles, secant/tangent piles, helical piles, stone columns, deep soil mixing and dynamic compaction. As a prime contractor or subcontractor, we offer customized solutions for material supply, installation, or full turnkey services, delivering high-quality results for ground improvement, excavation support, and complex foundation systems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Operate pile driving rigs, hammers, and other related equipment to drive piles into the ground for foundation support.
  • Assist in rigging and setting up pile driving equipment, including cranes, leads, and hammer systems.
  • Align and position piles accurately using levels, plumb lines, and other measuring tools.
  • Monitor pile driving progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper installation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of pile driving equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and other craft to coordinate job site activities.
  • Perform basic pile driving tasks such as welding, grinding, cutting with torch.
  • Document and report job progress, equipment malfunctions, and site conditions to supervisors.
  • Responsible for driving a safety culture which promotes Incident and Injury Free Performance.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.


Basic Qualifications



  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pile driving for deep foundation installation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing tasks like welding, grinding, cutting and using a torch.
  • TWIC Card


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with various deep foundation techniques, such as driven piles, H-piles, sheet piles, drilled shafts, and auger-cast piles.
  • Certified Welder
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications.
  • The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. The company will provide additional training, as necessary.

    • 40 Hour HAZWOPER training.
    • Competent Person Safety Training
    • 8-Hour Supervisory Training
    • 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training
    • First Aid and CPR




Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions and demands may vary, with possible exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required. Effective communication, tool use, and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
