Position Description (from job description):

Mechanical Engineering Student supports R&D Engineers in the creation and the development of medical devices. Participates in design & development activities. Performs design activities using CAD, creates drawings and drawing changes, evaluates prototypes and may perform engineering analysis. Supports test planning and writes test protocols. Contributes to design and fabrication of test fixtures. Performs testing, collects and analyzes test data, and prepares test reports. Participates in writing Technical Files, attends engineering meetings and reviews, and captures meeting minutes.

Special Assignments/Projects and Milestones:

Support various Cardiosave Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) remediation activities including IPX/Spill and Bulk Junior redesign..

Learning Outcomes:

Introduction to Medical Device Design Control methods for both product development and design change processes. Student will contribute to development and creation of Design Inputs, Design Development, Design Outputs, Verification & Validation Testing, and Transfer to Production. A key objective will be an introduction to robust product development processes and the regulatory framework of Design Control.

Qualifications:




  • Candidates with experience/skills in: Minimum of 2 full years of education in an engineering curriculum. Mechanical Engineering required.





  • Advanced proficiency: Experience with Solid Works CAD, and familiarity in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint





  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
