Job Description
We have an immediate opportunity for a Toolroom Machinistto join us at our diverse team in Freeport. The Toolroom Machinist performs any tool grinding operations necessary to prepare and maintain tooling for use in manufacturing operations. Pay range for this position is $26.09 per hour to $29.00 per hour, DOE. This is a 2nd Shift position (position will train on 1st Shift)
Job Responsibilities
- Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Works from tooling specifications, sketches, and personal observations in evaluating work that needs to be done.
- Performance requires extensive knowledge of tooling practices, machine application, and precision measurement instruments.
- Is qualified to troubleshoot tooling difficulties and to replace or adjust standard tooling as necessary.
- Performs all welding and brazing operations on various production tools.
- Instructs tool grinder and receives training from facilitator and other classifications regarding the above and related duties.
- Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communications with all employees, participating effectively as a team member or as a team leader. Encourages and assists in self-improvement.
- Demonstrates a commitment to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Follows safety regulations and actively contributes to work safety.
Background & Skills
- The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years of experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
