Who we are and what we do:

The Division of Accounts maintains the official accounting records for the state's budget, processes state payments, submits various IRS reports, and prepares the state's comprehensive annual financial report.

How you make a difference in this role:

The Department of Finance and Administration, Division of Accounts is seeking an accountant with a proven sense of accountability and ambition for financial stewardship and fiscal transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

Compiles statewide financial statements. Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting standards, policies, procedures, and systems for internal and external business partners. Assist in the design and completion of all state-wide year-end closing tasks on or before established deadlines. Create and maintain documented accounting standard business practices and procedures as needed. Assist in the completion of the annual risk assessment and related corrective action plan when required. Assist with special projects and develop accounting processes. Review and monitor statewide revenues and expenditures to ensure accounting and reporting in conformity with federal and state law. Monitor and assist with statewide budget compliance, reconciliation, and variance analyses. Provide consultative services to other governmental agencies and institutions related to accounting principles and practice. Evaluate and implement new accounting software/systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent. 5-10 years experience preferably including experience in the construction or auditing of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and familiarity with accounting and financial reporting in an enterprise-wide state or local government environment. CPA preferred.
