The primary duties of the Senior Transit Estimator are to work independently or as part of a team to develop conceptual, budgetary, and production-based construction cost estimates. Responsibilities include plan and specification review, bid item and construction quantity take-offs, and preparation of estimates using HCSS heavybid.

The Senior Transit Estimator may also perform plan constructability reviews, estimate quality reviews, and participate in cost risk and value engineering studies. Will coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate scope and schedule data upon which to base estimates. This role shall have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, production rates, labor, equipment and material requirements of the work. Estimating experience should include large Rail/Transit program/project experience as well as civil type projects including, but not limited, to highways, bridges, and/or retaining walls.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years' related experience
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office software
  • Advanced understanding of construction estimating concepts, construction scheduling and elements associated with Risk
  • Intermediate Management fundamentals
  • Able to lead small project estimates
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
