  • We are hiring immediately for full time GROUNDSKEEPER (SPRAY TECHNICIAN) positions.
  • Location: USF Grounds - 4202 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33620. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full time schedules. Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, including weekends as needed. More details upon interview.
  • Requirement: A Florida pesticide license is required; experience with mixing chemicals and spraying equipment is preferred, but not required.
  • Pay Range: $18.00 per hour to $22.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: This is a position that requires minimal supervision and requires routine labor associated with sports field management and general light maintenance. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a focus on turf & landscape pests including weeds, insects, disease and other disorders. The applicator will work closely with the Assistant Athletics Director of Grounds and Recreation to assure quality and safety on site as required by OSHA, ANSI, EPA, State and local agencies as applications are made to the athletic fields / venues at the University of South Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow schedules for the management of turf and landscape following IPM protocol and equipment/ tools used in operations.
  • Ensure that all work performed is completed in a safe manner for both the employee and the student's athletes using the athletic fields.
  • Responsible for maintaining detailed records for all work or services performed including rigid records for pesticide applications.
  • Implement quality standards, conduct and document follow-up inspections.
  • Light maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Remain up-to-date and informed in the current practices and state-of-the-art and all local, state, and federal codes and regulations related to IPM for turf, ornamentals and athletic grounds management.
  • Ensure that department policies, procedures and ethic codes are adhered to.
  • Other duties assigned by Assistant Athletics Director of Grounds.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license required.
