Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Grants Specialist. In this role, the successful candidate will serve as Senior Grant Specialist and be a point person to ensure grants specialist performance; customer service, assignments, coverage, and competencies are appropriate to meet department goals. Responsibilities will include both pre-award and post-award responsibilities including proposal review, electronic grant submission and award processing for grant programs. Participates in all pre and post-award grant processes; reviews and maintains budgets, records, processes necessary to ensure compliance with NYU School of Medicine standards, regulations and guidelines. Institutional sign-off on electronic proposals and grant related correspondence. Work independently with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstratesknowledgeofthe NYU School of Medicines servicestandardsandincorporatestheminto the performance of duties.
  2. ServesasexpertforSPAregardinginformationincludingbutnotlimitedtocomplexgrantand research policies and procedures including federal regulations, and internal NYULMC policies and procedures.
  3. Ensurethatinternalproceduresformaintaininggranttrackingandtimelyprocessingand reporting are followed.
  4. Coordinators and assists others in the preparation and review of complex grant proposals and contracts relative to grants, in compliance with regulations and applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  5. Electronicallysubmitsgrant (including complex grants)andfellowshipapplicationstoexternalsponsorsonbehalfofthe institution.
  6. CoordinatestheworkactivitiesinconjunctionwiththeDirectorandAssistantDirector.
  7. Servesasliaisonwithexternalfundingagencystaffongrant-relatedadministrativeissues throughout the life of grant including all submission and post award processes.
  8. Identifies grant opportunities, applies for, administers, and coordinates the administration of federal,stateandlocalgrantawardsinaccordancetoapplicablestandards,regulationsand guidelines.
  9. Reviewsexternalproposalbudgetsandcertifications;ensurescompliancewithNYUSchool of Medicine and federal policies and procedures.
  10. Coordinatescontract,awardagreement,andsubcontractnegotiationswithcontract specialists and departments administering the award.
  11. Allocatesawardbudgets;maintainsbudgetsforprograms,includingreconciliationand transfers; maintains all official award records.
  12. Providespreandpost-awardgeneralsupport;troubleshootsinternalandexternal grant/contract system implementation.
  13. Coordinateswithdepartmentmanagementrequestsforindirectcostwaiver,costsharing, and other requests requiring administrative approval.
  14. Maintainsallrecordsforthegrantactivityintheirportfolio.
  15. Audits,monitors,andschedulesreportsofgrantactivities.Processestransaction corrections, reallocations, and other related activities.
  16. Organizesandleadsworkshopsandsmallgroupsessionstotrainlaboratorystaffinvarious aspects of research administration.
  17. Workswithtechnicalstaffonsystemenhancements,andmodifications.Identifiesand resolves technical and functional problems.
  18. Activelyparticipatesinlocalandnationalprofessionalorganizationsandusergroupstokeep abreast of new functional developments and technology.
  19. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree; minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in a research or an academic environment. Must include experience with scientific grants preparation. Position also requires knowledge and skills in the following areas: Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and School regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of restricted fund accounting principles, procedures, and standards. Skill in the use of personal computers and software applications including database management skills. Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms.Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections. Ability to provide technical advice and information to staff. Knowledge of current developments/trends in grant proposals.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree and seven years of grants administration experience preferred. A Certified Research Administrator certificate or other professional relevant certification; proficiency with electronic grant submission systems and sponsor electronic research administration (eRA) systems are preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $98,876.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
