MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid driver's license (Must be maintained during employment period).
3. Obtain certification in CPR/First Aid within 60 days of hire date.
4. Obtain oleoresin capsicum spray (pepper spray) certification within 30 days of hire date *must be sprayed to obtain certification unless authorized by the security manager.

1. Previous experience in security type role preferred.

1. Initiates positive customer service interaction and provides appropriate assistance to hospital patients, visitors and staff to facilitate orderly and efficient access to STJ facilities in accordance with STJ and departmental policies and procedures.
2. Maintains consistent visibility and presence at assigned locations to provide an information and directional resource for all patients, visitors and staff.
3. Responds to and assists staff, patients and visitors during emergency situations such as combative people, fire, vandalism, bomb threats theft, automotive incidents, abductions, etc.
4. Provides physical assistance, wheelchair assistance, transport services, escort services and room access for patients, visitors and staff assessing facilities.
5. Manages traffic control through issuing citations for infractions, assisting motorists, investigating incidents, etc.

7. Patrols grounds and facilities as assigned to ensure the safety and security of persons and property.
8. Makes recommendations to management, staff, visitors and patients to improve security and prevent accidents and crime.
9. Provides written documentation of activates, incidents, premises safety, accidents, theft, vandalism and other data requested by supervision in a factual, objective, and legible manner.

11. Reports suspicious situations, circumstances, incidents and persons, according to STJ and department policy and procedures.
12. Responds and provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff during fire and disaster drills, animal control issues, transportation of valuables, and lost/found issues according to STJ and department policy and procedures.
13. Operates hospital-owned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, 100% of the time.
14. Participates in patient safety training and patient protection, including the needs and methods of reporting medical/healthcare errors and/or abuse.
15. May assist the facilities department with hourly equipment checks on all equipment and other assigned duties, such as snow removal, etc.
16. Other requirements may include: incident reporting, routine building rounds, incident investigation, crowd control, restraining patients, disaster response, domestic disputes, parking enforcement, consistence presence and visibility, media issues, victim assistance, engages in traffic direction, policy enforcement, investigation of alarms, duress, etc. , tire changing, battery jumps, parking rounds, effective radio communication, escorts patients/visitors/staff, gives accurate directions to customers, loss prevention, transport equipment/staff/visitors/patients, post assignments for internal/external surveillance.
