Thales Defense & Security, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced International Business Development Manager to support export sales of our tactical communications, power management and SATCOM solutions. The International Business Development Manager will be responsible for leading both business development and capture efforts in a highly competitive and complex international markets. The ideal candidate will need to identify, qualify and capture international opportunities. This position reports to the Director of International Business Development out of Clarksburg, MD.



Responsibilities

  • Define vision, strategies and tactics for assigned territories.
  • Interface with international customers, stakeholders and partners to identify, qualify and capture new business opportunities.
  • Create accurate sales forecasts for assigned territories, develop and successfully execute campaign and capture plans.
  • Serve as Capture Manager for assigned opportunities.
  • Write winning proposals and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Plan and execute customer engagements to include supporting demonstrations and field trials.
  • Plan and execute post-sales support plans.
  • Achieve sales targets of >$20M annually in assigned territories.
  • Grow the business in assigned territories by identifying new customers and new opportunities.
  • Manage distributors, resellers, and business advisor's in assigned territories.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with US export regulations.
  • Aid in market penetration and growth with minimal supervision.
  • Acquire and disseminate market intelligence and competitor knowledge as relevant to assigned domain.


Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required. Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance upon hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge or use of tactical communications is highly preferred in order to conduct hands on demonstrations to customers.
  • 4-8+ Years of business development and marketing experience in relevant DOD sector, or equivalent experience (Such as a history of supporting the US Embassy, US Exports, or FMS (Foreign Military Sales)).
  • 2+ years supporting international sales, ideally within one or more of the following markets: NATO/European, FVEY, or Indo-Pacific.
  • Ability to achieve sales in international markets in excess of $20M annually.
  • Expertise of the Foreign Military Sales System and US Security Assistance Programs.
  • Networking abilities among various communities that impact international sales such as CECOM, USASAC, DSCA, US Exports, US Embassy Security Assistance Offices, US Combatant Commands, acquisition officials and key end users.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR and other export rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the UN and/or the European Union procurement systems.
  • Strong writing skills along with the ability to create and exhibit high quality presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and interact with employees in all departments and functions.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and sales tracking systems
  • Must be fluent in English - written and verbal. Preference for fluency in other languages.
  • Requires International Travel >30% of time.

The annualized pay range for this role is $142,066.80-181.529.80 USD, along with a target incentive compensation plan (ICP) of 10%. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above. TDSI considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
